Once again, National Bike Month is here! A celebration of the bicycle and its benefits happening all across the country, and a chance to encourage more people to get on a bike and ride.
Here in Long Beach we have numerous events and rides to look forward to, both hosted by local bike organizations and the City of Long Beach itself.
A small sample of events going on:
- Kick off Bike Month on 5/1 with Moonlight Mash.
- Do you have a bike you want to recycle, or are you looking for a new bike? On 5/2 the city is hosting a Recycle your Bicycle event, and the Long Beach Bike Co-Op is having a garage sale.
- Join Walk & Roll Long Beach on a community bike ride on 5/16 (register here)
- Fight for visibility, respect, and our right to exist by walking and riding with Car-Lite Long Beach on a Ride of Silence on 5/20.
- Come test ride an e-bike on 5/30 at the Demo Day hosted by the city of Long Beach.
- Save the date for Bike Long Beach Bikes & Coffee ride on 5/31. More details to come, but this will be a fun one.
Check out the Bike Long Beach calendar and Public Works’ Bike Month website for other special Bike Month events and rides. There’s something happening almost every day of the week, and more will be announced throughout the month.
See you on the bike!
